Welcome to Common Ground with God
There are millions of existing websites, blogs, newsletters, communities, and study groups that are dedicated to the study and practice of faith, religion, God, prayer, belief, and the search of spirituality.
Pre-launch, CommonGroundWithGod.org has already been asked by numerous people a myriad of questions. The premier one was "why the need?" There are many amazing sites, that already do whatever you want to do, and probably are very successful at their missions.
Talking about a lack of faith. :)
From where I am sitting, I see that there is something missing. A niche not yet filled. I would not say that we use the word "interfaith" flippantly, but at times we "listen" to the other side, just so they will listen to us.
I propose to actually to learn from the other side. What can I learn from someone from a different faith, in a faith-neutral language? Can we use an omni-faith lexicon to be able to describe our actions, beliefs and prayers?
"Common Ground with God" hopes to fill this void.
The old adage goes, "Don't judge someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes." Once their shoes have supported you for a mile, you will appreciate the owner more. Through action comes understanding. Even when you don't understand or agree with at the beginning, in the end, the possibility for true empathy can emerge.
My own personal journey has spanned interactions with amazing people of different faiths in varying geographical locations. It has caused me to read books written by authors that I may not necessarily feel comfortable praying in the same place as, but I was able to learn from them and grow in my own faith.
It has caused me to realize that we have a lot more in common than we think. In a world consumed by hate and xenophobia, we have the ability to make small changes in ourselves.
With this hope, we launch CommonGroundWithGod.org as a common ground of teaching, learning and applying the lessons to life.
Let there be peace and the want to understand God throughout the world.
